Your hosts are Dead Mans Uke an award winning two man band playing dirt swing, hokum and old blues tunes as well as crazy covers and anything else they fancy on double bass and a resonator ukulele that belonged to Tiny Tim... they play shows in bars, music venues, parties, festivals and theatres across the UK and recently in Prague, Dublin, Belfast, Austria, Paris, Bavaria, Poland, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Australia and even Saudi Arabia… but are really looking forward to playing the amazing Victoria Hall once again - it's one of our favourite places!!
Over the last few years German musician Charlotte Pelgen has been touring internationally with the Bad Mouse Orchestra and other bands performing swing music from the 1920s and 30s. Many of her songs draw inspiration from early 20th-century swing, with its characteristic rhythms and harmonies, but also reveal her love for folk music and German chansons. We are so excited Charlotte is able to join us!
Hailing from the North of England, Warehouse of Thieves is a dynamic 5 piece band. They blend progressive rock, contemporary folk, and indie sounds into their original music. Plus, get ready for some cool renditions of popular tunes. With harmonies, solos, and beats that'll have you moving, their live show is a must-see. They're not just great musicians – they know how to entertain and engage the crowd too.
Phil’s love of vintage blues, swing, and jug band music shines through as he blows the dust off obscure old songs and gives new life to classics. With just his big voice, stomping foot, and driving rhythms on both ukuleles and banjos he'll take you back to the juke joints of the 20s. His original songs blend in seamlessly, with many believing them to be old songs that had passed them by.
Here's the programme from 2023 as an example of what we get up to.
