Your hosts are Dead Mans Uke an award winning two man band playing dirt swing, hokum and old blues tunes as well as crazy covers and anything else they fancy on double bass and a resonator ukulele that belonged to Tiny Tim... they play shows in bars, music venues, parties, festivals and theatres across the UK and recently in Prague, Dublin, Belfast, Austria, Paris, Bavaria, Poland, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Australia and even Saudi Arabia… but are really looking forward to playing the amazing Victoria Hall once again - it's one of our favourite places!!
Tim Vine described John as 'one of the funniest men I know', Simon Cowell called him 'Amazing', David Walliams said 'you're a superstar'. He's one of the top comedy magicians in the world, was the first person to fool Penn & Teller on their show and has even won a BAFTA... He's also an old friend and we are so pleased he's going to join us for the Weekender, playing uke and hosting our Saturday evening show.
Hailing from the North of England, Warehouse of Thieves is a dynamic 5 piece band. They blend progressive rock, contemporary folk, and indie sounds into their original music. Plus, get ready for some cool renditions of popular tunes. With harmonies, solos, and beats that'll have you moving, their live show is a must-see. They're not just great musicians – they know how to entertain and engage the crowd too.
Phil’s love of vintage blues, swing, and jug band music shines through as he blows the dust off obscure old songs and gives new life to classics. With just his big voice, stomping foot, and driving rhythms on both ukuleles and banjos he'll take you back to the juke joints of the 20s. His original songs blend in seamlessly, with many believing them to be old songs that had passed them by.
Part ‘Tribute’, part ‘Parody’, part-time.
From an alternate universe, we bring you Big Buddy Holly, The Hiccupping Hillbilly, Ukulele Sensation, with his loyal and crusty backing band, The Croquettes.
If you like your Rock ‘n’ Roll with a barnyard full of tongue in cheek and a trailer full of smiles, then put on your sneakers and get ready to Jive.
The full weekend programme is now here - Starts with fun on the Friday night with a special show this year from Big Buddy Holly & The Croquettes as well as the usual super strum and quiz. Workshops and open mic then a gala show on Saturday. Followed by some Sunday workshops, all designed to learn something new before we finish in early afternoon with a songtastic strum along.
For the quiz on Friday you'll need to download our app at:
